STAFF at an award-winning Southall restaurant have been giving a top celebrity chef lessons on creating the perfect curry.
Gordon Ramsay spent 12 hours slaving over a hot clay oven followed by a film crew at The Brilliant restaurant in Western Road last Thursday, in preparation for his upcoming Channel 4 Cookalong shows, which start this Friday.
Dipna Anand, who helps run the eatery which scooped the Best In the London Suburbs prize at the Curry Awards on Sunday, said the notoriously hot-tempered chef was delighted at what he found.
She said: “He came in and the first thing he said was ‘This is f-ing spotless’, and he just worked really hard through the whole day.
“At the end of the shift his arms were covered in blisters and I asked him if he was alright, but he just said it meant he had not been working hard enough.
“It’s great to have someone like him coming here and saying it’s the best curry he’s ever tasted.” It is the second year the restaurant has scooped the prestigious award.
Dipna continued: “Our secret is we are a truly family restaurant. A lot of people just open these restaurants and then leave them for managers to run, but I think there should always be someone from the family there.
“We also have such a wide and varied style of dishes, which I think helps to bring people back.”
